Description
Argus monitors (Varanus panoptes) are found in northern and western areas of Australia and Papua province, both Indonesia and New Guinea, along the southern coastal and lowland interior ranges. Like most monitors, mangroves are nervous captives and may take some time to tame down. Ideally, the cage should include multiple hiding spots to provide a sense of security. These are very intelligent, active, large lizards that need a vast amount of space, time, and food, but are a very rewarding pet.
