Description

Pangio is a widespread genus of small, eel- or worm-like loaches from Southeast Asia. Many similar species are traded under the banner of Pangio kuhlii; these are actually the dwarf species Pangio cuneovirgata. Kuhli loaches are reclusive and nocturnal, although having a large group of them and plenty of hiding spaces make them more outgoing. You may not see your Kuhlis all day but they are known to go crazy when the aquarium is fed! Kuhlis prefer a soft substrate in which they can burrow completely, and act more comfortably and naturally in setup with such. They also appreciate thick leaf litter and sediment layers in blackwater-type aquaria.

Pangio cuneovirgata is a small species of kuhli that rarely exceeds 2" in length. They have a paler yellowish base colour and very shallow 'saddles' that rarely reach past halfway down the flank. They are one of the shyer kuhlis are particularly appreciate a large group, with 8-10 or more being ideal if you want to see them come out during daylight hours!

These are young specimens around 1-1.5" long.
