Description

Retroculus lapidifer is an interesting relative of the genus Geophagus. While it still sand-sifts like they do, Retroculus come from fast-flowing waters and have adapted to have a highly reduced swim bladder, specing most of their time perched on the bottom. This results in their behaviour and movements being more like a goby than a cichlid! Like most geos they do best in groups and take some time to fully come into their colour.

These are babies around 2" long.
