Description
Hypancistrus debilittera is a beautiful dwarf pleco hailing from Colombia, named for its pattern of irregular black and pale yellow stripes. Only reaching about 4", it is a much more manageable option for most tanks than some more common pleco species. It is an omnivorous species; while it will eat algae, it also needs plenty of meaty foods in its diet to thrive, and should not be left to survive of algae growing in the tank alone. Because of this, if it's algae cleaning you're looking for, you may be better off with a Bushynose or Rubberlip pleco.
These juvenile specimens are approximately 1.5" long.
