Description
The Melanotaenia sikuensis displays an overall yellowish body coloration. The head and body's dorsal part are tinged yellow, while the belly region also exhibits a yellow hue. A continuous blue-violet midlateral line, spanning 2-3 scales wide, runs from the pectoral fins to the midsection, with 3-4 scale rows on the caudal area. While the pectoral fins are translucent, the other fins showcase a dark yellow shade. Notably, there's an absence of marginal stripes on the dorsal and anal fins. A subtle blue blotch extends from the base of the pectoral fin to the midpoint of the anal fin. Females exhibit similar color intensity. The species was named "sikuensis" to honor its collection site, Siku Creek.
