Description
Hemigrammus hyanuary, sometimes known as the Costello or Green Neon tetra (not to be confused with Paracheirodon simulans). These small tetras are a green to golden colour with a black and white rosette on the wrist of the tail. While they might not be the most overtly colourful of tetras, their small maximum size (around 1.5") makes them a welcome and unique addition to small community aquaria. They are very peaceful and thus make good dither fish for dwarf cichlids, such as Apistogramma or Pelvicachromis spp.
These are young adults measuring around 1" long.
