Description
Laetacara dorsigera is an uncommon species of dwarf cichlid. Laetus is latin for 'Happy', and members of this genus were named for the markings around the mouth and snout that make them appear to be smiling. These are typically a very laid-back, peaceful cichlid. They feel most comfortable when a school of small fish is housed with them, such as tetras or rasboras. The prescence of schooling fish indicates to the Acara that no large predators are present, and it is safe to come out into the open.
These are captive bred individuals ranging from 1-2" in total length. They are just starting to develop the beautiful pale blue and gold colouration this species is known for.
