Description
Uromastyx is a popular genus of Agamid lizards native to arid areas of Africa and the Middle East. Sometimes known as 'Spiny-Tailed Lizards', these herbivores have a heavily spiked tail they use to defend themselves. Uromastyx like it quite hot, and need a fairly sizeable tank to give the room for a hot basking area, and a cool side to retreat to when the need to cool down. As herbivores, they relish leafy greens and other vegetable matter; they do not need, and should not be fed, insects.
Uromastyx geyri, the Saharan Uromastyx, has 2 distint colour forms; Yellow, and orange/red. This is a near-adult of the yellow morph.
