Tails and Scales ships products across Canada. We now offer multiple carrier shipping and use a number of the most familiar shipping companies in Canada including Fed Ex, UPS, Purolator, Canpar, Dicom and Canada Post. Shipping charges have increased steadily during Covid and we have had to increase some of our shipping charges and minimums to reflect these much higher costs.

Plant Shipping

Plants are shipped out of pot. Most of the growing media is removed the roots put into a plastic bag and then gently held with elastic. The plant is wrapped in plain white newsprint paper. The plants are then put in box with more paper and sometimes bubble wrap to keep them from moving around. Special requests can be made to have the plants shipped in pot. This will incur a possible surcharge due to weight overages and possible size of packaging. Some smaller plants that may require shipping in pot will not have a surcharge. Please note that shipping is not possible for plants in pots greater than 6"

Plant shipping does not qualify for free shipping at $150. Plant shipments go out on Monday or Tuesday. Shipments can go out on Wednesday on rare occasions for shipments going to some Ontario addresses. We cannot ship out on Thursday or Friday during cold weather shipping.

Address must be a physical address as we cannot ship plants to P.O. Boxes unless you are in a remote area and this is your only address. A signature will be required to receive winter shipping.

During colder months we ship plants similarly to the way we ship animals which is in insulated box with heat pack. We will pick the best courier for your location. Because of the nature express shipping the larger the box the greater the shipping costs sometimes exponentially. Large orders of plants can cost quite a lot to ship and this will be reflected in a surcharge.

Warm weather shipping now in effect for most of Canada. Warm weather shipping is by ground courier and will take just a little while longer than express for most regions. Heat packs no longer necessary. Cryopaks can be included for $7.00 during extreme heat but depending upon duration of travel time delay in shipping may be recommended.
