Description
Acanthicus adonis, also known as the Polka Dot Lyretail Pleco, is an elegant species from Brazil. This is a large (if not THE largest) pleco; it will reach at least 2 feet in length, and specimens up to 39" (1 meter) have been reported! Juveniles have beautiful and well-defined white spoitted, which will fade with maturity leaving a solid black fish. The entire body is adorned with spines, and the tips of most fins are elongated. Paired with their slender, gracile build for a pleco of their size, these are perhaps among the most beautiful of catfish, especially when free-swimming around their tank.
These are much larger than the typically seen 1-2" juvies; they are currently around 6", with long tail streamers intact.
