Description

This is a peaceful freshwater fish native to the Amazon and Tocantins River systems. Known for its unique snout growths, mature males and sometimes females develop soft, bushy tentacles, distinguishing them from other species. These fish thrive on a mainly vegetarian diet, including algae wafers, spirulina, and vegetables like zucchini and cucumber, with occasional small meaty treats. They are generally compatible with most community fish, though males may become territorial in small tanks. Their non-aggressive nature makes them an excellent addition to diverse aquariums.
