Description
Anolis gingivinus, also known as the Anguilla Bank tree anole, a captivating lizard native to the Lesser Antilles. This species thrives across the islands of Anguilla, Saint Martin, Saint Barthélemy, and the smaller Sombrero Bank. Males can grow up to 72 mm in length and feature a striking olive to light green coloration with a broad mid-dorsal stripe and cream to bright yellow belly. Their appearance is often enhanced by gray-brown marbling or spots. Adaptable and common on its native islands, the Anguilla Bank tree anole is known for its preference for high, exposed perches and coexists with other species like the A. pogus on Saint Martin, each occupying different ecological niches.
