Description
Hoplosternum cf. littorale. These armoured catfish are closely related to Corydoras catfish and have similar habits and care; the biggest difference is that this species can exceed 8" in length! Despite their size these are still a very peaceful catfish and mix well with other laid back species that wouldn't fit in their mouths. Like cories, they should ideally be kept in at least a trio, being more comfortable the larger their group is. Interestingly for a catfish, this species is a bubblenester, like the gouramis of Southeast Asia.
These are juveniles, around 2" long.
