Description
Dicrossus maculatus is a unique dwarf cichlid from Colombia and Venezuela. These small, elongate cichlids have bold iridescent markings over a black and tan checkered body. While difficult to breed (they require excessively low pH levels to hatch their eggs) these cichlids adapt well to life in our relatively neutral Toronto tap water and make ideal community residents. Still, some blackwater tint from driftwood or leaf litter will be appreciated, and bring out the best colour and behaviour of these interesting little beauties.
These are adults around 3" long.
