Animal Availability

Please note that reptiles, fish, and other animals may not always be available, as some are seasonal or rare and difficult to source. If you're interested in a specific animal that's out of stock, please contact us with your information, and we'll add you to our call list.

Please note that the photos of animals and plants may not accurately represent our current stock and could include past orders or stock images. Some images may showcase more mature specimens, as certain species do not display their full colors or patterns until maturity. While we strive to accommodate requests for additional photos, we cannot guarantee their availability. Thank you for your understanding!

Description

Please Note: The images shown are typical examples of mature adult fish and not necessarily the exact fish in our current stock. Actual fish coloration can vary due to lineage, location, age, and gender. If you would like photos of the fish currently available, you may request them. Please understand that we may not always be able to provide these promptly due to time constraints, and photographing some fish can be challenging.

Melanotaenia splendida
is a lovely species of rainbowfish from - you guessed it - Australia. Subject to a wide range of water conditions in the wild, this is a very hardy species that does quite well in captivity. Males develop beautiful orange and bluish-green colouration with maturity. Like most other rainbows, they are best kept in mixed-sex groups, and mix well with other robust fishes such as large danios, barbs, cichlids, etc. While they're not aggressive, very shy or small fishes may be unable to compete with these fast, active swimmers.
