Description
Polycentropsis abbreviata is a leaf-mimicking fish from West Africa. While not a particularly large fish, maxing out around 3", these fish are highly predatory. They are not aggressive (actually quite a shy fish), but will eat fairly large fish relative to body size, such as small tetras. Good tankmates are peaceful but larger fishes, such as certain gouramis, plecos, catfish, etc. They make a great alternative to Ctenopoma without getting nearly as large. This batch is currently housed in acidic, reverse osmosis water with negligible mineral content. These conditions are best for their overall health, but if you wish to keep them in plain tap water a slow acclimation is required.
