Description

Pangio is a widespread genus of small, eel- or worm-like loaches from Southeast Asia. Many similar species are traded under the banner of Pangio kuhlii; these are actually the similar species Pangio myersi. Kuhli loaches are reclusive and nocturnal, although having a large group of them and plenty of hiding spaces make them more outgoing. You may not see your Kuhlis all day but they are known to go crazy when the aquarium is fed! Kuhlis prefer a soft substrate in which they can burrow completely, and act more comfortably and naturally in setup with such. They also appreciate thick leaf litter and sediment layers in blackwater-type aquaria.

These are specimens of Pangio myersi, often called the Giant Kuhli. While they grow to around 43.5-4", which is not much larger than most common Pangio spp., it is their girth that is 'giant', with this species becoming quite a chubby loach indeed. These are juveniles around 2" long.
