Description
Barbodes semifasciolatus is a brightly-coloured and more peaceful species of barb from Southeast Asia that reaches around 2.5-3" long. While the wild form is green, the ornamental 'Golden' strain is far more common, and gives any other fish with "gold" in its name a run for their money! While these fish may be boisterous at feeding time, they are largely peaceful otherwise and pair well with similarly sized, robust fishes. Beware that some soft plants such as mosses may be viewed as food, especially if these fish are lacking vegetable matter in their diet.
These are juveniles around 1-1.5" long.
