Description
Peckoltia vittata is a smaller (to about 5") pleco from northern Brazil. These are an omnivorous species that prefers a higher-protein diet, and as such shouldn't be relied upon as algae cleaners. A balanced diet of frozen foods, and sinking pellets with both plant and animal matter is best for these showy catfish. While they look somewhat like clown plecos (Panaqolus maccus), unlike that species, these plecos are not primarily xylivores (wood-eaters), and their colour pattern tends to stay much sharper with age.
These are near-full grown specimens, around 5" long.
