Description
Boraras urophthalmoides, sometimes known as the Exclamation Point Rasbora, is an extremely tiny species of rasbora from Thailand. These are the epitome of nano fish, barely exceeding a half inch in maximum length. They are hardy and work well in communities, but bear in mind that all but the smallest of fish are large enough to eat them. Good tankmates would include other nano schoolers such as Boraras spp., Celestial Pearl danios, certain pencilfish and perhaps certain small gouramis such as Chocolate or Sparkling gouramis. While they may not be as colourful as the popular Chilli rasboras (B. brigittae), males can still develop a metallic orange stripe above their black lateral stripe.
These are pretty well full-grown adults, at around 0.5" long. They are beginning to show colour but, as is usual for fresh imports of this species, they will need conditioning with good-quality food to reach their full colour potential.
