Description
Nannostomus marginatus (Sometimes known as the marginated pencilfish) is an uncommon species of pencilfish. Barely reaching and inch, these are some of the smallest pencilfish available. Like other pencils, they don't tend to school so tightly as their cousins the tetras, but instead shoal loosely throughout the aquarium. These subtly beautiful fish are tan with dark horizontal bars, and have red spots in each fin. Pencilfish are particularly valued as dither fish used to bring Apistogramma spp. out into the open, as many species of both genera naturally occur together.
These are near-full grown adults, about 0.75-1" long.
