Description

Melanotaenia parkinsoni is a popular species of rainbowfish from Papua New Guinea. Males develop a blotchy, yellow to orange colour along the back half as they mature; the head area is a greenish-silver. These are a larger species of Melanotaenia and may reach up to 6" long; 3-4" is more average in aquaria. Like all rainbowfish they are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least 3, preferably 6 or more. They are well-behaved and work well in mid- to large-sized community aquaria with similarly sized fishes.

These are juveniles around 2" long that MAY be M. parkinsoni, but we are not entirely sure. They were shipped to us as M. parva but are definitely not that species.
