Natalia's mountain horned dragon (Acanthosaura nataliae) is a stunning arboreal(tree dwelling) lizard from central Vietnam, known for its "dragon-like" appearance with head horns and dorsal spines, making it a popular but specialized pet for reptile enthusiasts seeking a unique, docile insectivore requiring specific high-humidity, warms forest conditions. As adults, the males will sport blazing
- Enclosure: Needs a tall, arboreal setup with thick branches, live or artificial plants (orchids, ferns, bromeliads work well) for climbing and hiding. 18"X18"X36 would be a minimum tank size with some individuals needing larger around 4'X2'X2.
- Temperature: Requires a gradient with a basking spot (around 90°F/32°C) and cooler areas (low 70s°F/21°C), with ambient temperatures around 80°F (27°C).
- Humidity & Misting: High humidity (60-80%) is crucial, achieved by misting the enclosure heavily 2-3 times daily.
- Diet: Insectivores, eating crickets, locusts, mealworms, and earthworms, with uneaten insects removed promptly
These reptiles do best with moving water, either a waterfall/fountain or bubbler in a water dish large enough to accommodate body length.
