Biotodoma wavrini. Biotodoma cichlids were once placed in the genus Geophagus. Like them, they are peaceful mid-sized cichlids that do best when kept in groups; 4-6+ is best as it will allow a pecking order to form without weaker individuals being bullied excessively. These cichlids can be kept with surprisingly small tankmates for a fish of their size (This species reaches about 5") but care should still be taken with fishes small enough to fit in their mouths. This species develops stunning golden colour with blue spangling in adult males.
These are juveniles, around 2.5-3" long. They have yet to develop adult colour and cannot be sexed.
