Description
Parosphormenus sp.. These were sent to us as P. deissneri, as many unidentified licorice gouramis are, but true deissneri are very uncommon in the hobby. We're not sure which species these represent, as it can be hard to tell species apart when out of breeding dress. Care is similar for all licorice gouramis though; soft acidic water is appreciated, if not required, and they prefer dim lighting. Using lots of driftwood and leaf litter to stain the water will help replicate their natural environment, and make them more outgoing. Good tankmates would include small species that enjoy similar conditions, such as Boraras rasboras.
This are European captive-bred specimens, around 1" long. They are showing colour at the margins of their fins, but are still too young to sex very reliably.
