Trichopodus leerii, the Pearl Gourami, is one of the more peaceful species of larger gourami. Reaching about 4-5" total, males of this beautiful species develop a rich orange colour on the bottom half of the body and threadlike extensions of the dorsal and anal fins. Females are more uniform bronze in colour but both sexes have lovely pearlescent spots all over the body. This species is more monogamous than most species and a male can be kept with a single female, although harems still work. These are likely the best Trichopodus gourami for community aquaria.
These are juveniles around 1.5" long without counting the tail. Unfortunately they are currently too small to sex.
