Ranitomeya fantastica originate from the lowlands of Peru. Larger on the spectrum of thumbnail dart frogs, this species ranges around 3/4 of an inch.
The 'Varadero' locale has a bronze-gold head and front limbs that are distinguished from the blue-black body, which is riddled with pale blue to white reticulation. Spotting on the head, especially around the nose and ears, is frequently seen.
This is a very precious morph that is only known the lowlands near Yurimaguas into the slopes of Peru. Captive breeding of these animals is crucial to their continuation in the hobby, as with all dart frogs.
