Description

Most likely female.

Ranitomeya variabilis originate from the montane eastern foothills of Peru, close to the Andean mountains at around 300-1200m. Larger on the spectrum of thumbnail dart frogs, this species ranges around 3/4 of an inch.

The 'Southern' locale is a rich metallic blue-green on the body that shifts into a teal blue on the limbs, with numerous large black spots across the entire animal.

Captive breeding of these animals is crucial to their continuation in the hobby, as with all dart frogs.
