Description
'Geophagus' steindachneri is a mid-sized eartheater that likely belongs to an as-yet undescribed genus of eartheaters, related to, but not included within, the genus Geophagus. Reaching around 6" long, care is the same as most geos; sandy substrate, a male with a harem of females, and peaceful characins s dithers tends top be the best way to keep this species. Males develop a large red nuchal hump on maturity, hence their common name.
These are babies around 1-1.5" long. Not yet coloured up and too small to sex.
