Description
Rubricatochromis bimaculata (Formerly Hemichromis bimaculata) is a smaller river cichlid from West Africa. These cichlids, despite being African, enjoy similar conditions to most South American cichlids. These fish earned the name "jewel" as the metallic-blue on cherry-red pattern on mature individuals is truly a sight to behold. While they can get a bit of an attitude, they mix well with faster or more robust fish in a mid-sized or larger community tank. They also breed very easily and their interesting parental behaviour makes them rewarding as specimen fish with a tank to themselves.
