Description
Hyphessobrycon sweglesi is a bright red tetra from Colombia and Venezuela. Like all phantom tetras, they have an eyespot on their "shoulder", while their body is bright red yet highly transparent. While they resemble Serpae tetras quite closely, they are far more peaceful. Males spar for female attention without harming each other, which is quite an interesting display to watch.
Most red phantom tetras are farm-bred; these are wild-caught specimens which are highly prized for intense red colour unrivaled in farmed specimens without a long conditioning period with high quality food.
