Description
Puntius bimaculatus is an uncommon barb from Southern India and Sri Lanka. These subtle beauties have a tan base colour but develop metallic red and green stripes across their side. Like most barbs it is a very hardy schooling fish that can tolerate a fairly large range of water parameters. For their best health and behaviour, we recommend getting at least 5-6 individuals in a school, with more being even better. These barbs are known for having a particular taste for brown algae (diatoms) and can thus help keep plants and surfaces in the aquarium clean. They are not a large species, only reaching just over 2".
These are subadults, around 1-1.5" in length. The males are just beginning to develop their colour.
