Description
Biotodoma cupido ’Rio Nanay’. Cupid cichlids were once placed in the genus Geophagus. Like them, they are peaceful mid-sized cichlids that do best when kept in groups; 4-6+ is best as it will allow a pecking order to form without weaker individuals being bullied excessively. Cupid cichlids can be kept with surprisingly small tankmates for a fish of their size (Cupids reach about 4") but care should still be taken with fishes small enough to fit in their mouths. Cupid cichlids are among the most colourful of south american cichlids, and many collectors consider this Rio Nanay locality to be the most beautiful. They develop pinkish or purplish tones in the fins and belly, electric blue along the back, and bright yellow to rusty orange colour on the body.
