Description
Yasuhikotakia morleti is a small and popular species of Botiid loach from southeast Asia. Despite reaching only about 3", these very active loaches are known to have a bit of a strong attitude. Small, peaceful fishes, especially bottom-dwellers such as Corydoras spp., are best avoided as these boisterous fish may bully or nip them. Good choices for tankmates include larger danios, barbs, certain cichlids, and other robust and agile fishes. It is recommended (like all loaches) to keep these fish in a sizable group, with at least 3-4 being the minimum, and larger group of 6-8+ being preferable. Skunk loaches are named for the black stripe running along their back, and have pale pink bodies. They are certainly and interesting addition to semi-aggressive tanks, especially if you're looking to fill a bottom-dwelling role.
These are subadult individuals, around 1-2" long.
