Description
Ctenopoma acutirostre a larger species of Anabantoid (the same order as gouramis) from Africa. Reaching about 6" (rarely up to ~8"), these fish are predatory; while not aggressive, they will eat larger fish than you may expect relative to their body size. Owing to their large, high extensible mouth, they can eat fish up to around 1/3 their body length and height. Ideal tankmates include larger schoolers such as Congo tetras, giant danios, or rainbowfish, or large peaceful fish such as certain cichlids, gouramis, angelfish, etc.
These are babies around 1.5" long.
