Description
Opsariichthys pachycephalus is a larger, coolwater minnow endemic to Taiwan. Reaching about 6", little information is available online about this rarely imported species. Care should be similar to most comparable cyprinids; cool, well oxygenated and flowing water, with frequent high protein meals. Like certain Danios, they may benefit from the occasional inclusion of plant matter in their diet. They develop a pattern of blue-green and silver bars with maturity, as well as an extended and fimbriated anal fin.
These are juveniles around 3-4" long. They are currently silver, but the barred pattern is just beginning to show through on some individuals, and some are beginning to develop their extended anal fin.
