Description
Sinotaia quadrata is a larger coldwater species of snail from Japan. Reaching up to or in excess of 2" wide, they make good grazers for larger tanks. They are also valued as cleanup crew in ponds, and can survive in very cold water. These viviparous snails breed slowly, having one large, live baby at a time. Trapdoor snails are considered plant safe when well fed, but if they are starved they may turn on your greenery! These snails are unfussy and will accept most sinking foods, as well as grazing on algae and detritus.
These are juveniles, around 0.5" wide.
