Description
Atya gabonensis is a large filter feeding shrimp originates in West Africa. They can grow quite large (More than 6"!) but are harmless as they feed on the fine particles of food that are in the water column. They also are incredibly long lived, and can last decades in aquaria. Their colour ranges from blue to rusty brown, depending on diet and how long it has been since they moulted. These are perfect if you like the look of crayfish but not their destructive nature, as vampire shrimp do not harm plants or prey on tankmates.
These are juveniles around 1.5" long. They have years of growing and enjoyment ahead of them!
