Description
Metynnis hypsauchen is the original "Silver Dollar" fish. Like most other species of silver dollar it is peaceful for its size, and makes a good member of large-sized community tanks or as a dither fish for larger more aggressive fish, such as certain cichlids. These nervous fish do not do well on their own and need to be maintained in groups, preferably 3-5+. These mostly herbivorous fish appreciate lots of vegetable matter in their diet.
