Appearance: The Tessera het. Scaleless Strawberry Corn Snake is a warm, visually balanced morph that combines the clean linear striping of the Tessera gene with the gentle reddish tones of Strawberry, while carrying the Scaleless gene. The Tessera pattern creates a crisp, unbroken dorsal stripe with evenly spaced side markings that accentuate the body’s length and structure. The Strawberry gene, a recessive trait related to Hypo, softens dark pigmentation and enriches red and pink hues, often giving hatchlings a bright coral tone that matures into softer reds and oranges with age. Although the Scaleless gene is not expressed in this heterozygous form, it carries the potential to produce smooth, scale-free offspring when paired with a compatible mate. Behaviour: Corn Snakes are crepuscular, showing peak activity at dawn and dusk. They are hardy, reliable feeders that adapt easily to consistent care routines, making them suitable for both display and breeding.
Captive Care
Enclosure: A 40-gallon terrarium (36” × 18” × 18”) or larger is ideal for adults. Use soft, moisture-retentive substrate such as soil, coconut fibre, or bioactive blends. Provide multiple hides, cork flats, and climbing décor to encourage natural behaviour and exploration.
Temperature & Humidity: Maintain a daytime gradient of 75–82°F (24–28°C) with a basking area around 86–88°F (30–31°C). Allow nighttime drops to 70°F (21°C). Keep humidity between 45–60%, and provide a humid hide or damp moss during shedding.
Diet: Offer frozen-thawed rodents approximately 1.25× the width of the snake’s mid-body. Feed juveniles every 7–10 days and adults every 10–14 days.
Behaviour in Captivity: Corn Snakes are calm, curious, and active during twilight hours. They thrive with consistent care, steady temperatures, and regular handling.
